World Press Photo
Exhibition 2022
Athens, Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre / SNFCC
20th May – 11th June
The World Press Photo exhibition will once again make Athens one of its main annual destinations since 2019, with the initiative of Athens Photo World. APW is made possible through a grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) and is co-organised with the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre (SNFCC). The exhibition is hosted for the third year on the ground floor of the National Library of Greece (NLG), presenting to the public the photographs that have attracted the most attention and news interest. The criteria used by the committees each year vary, but the focus is always on the pressing issues of humanity and the most representative depiction of them in the past year.
This year, once again, a Greek photographer, Konstantinos Tsakalidis, is among the photographers awarded by the international institution of photojournalism. Tsakalidis was the European winner in the Single Photo category with the photo he took last year during the devastating wildfires that hit northern Evia in August 2021.
